As much as you adore your friends and appreciate how happy they are for you to start your married life, you don't want two hours of speeches and toasts at your rehearsal dinner. However, it can be awkward at best to limit and designate speeches to certain friends and not others. You don't want to hurt the feelings of those closest to your heart, so here we offer a fun solution:
THE SHOE GAME
As promised, this inspiration comes from our fabulous New Orleans Wedding. Designate the sentimental, traditional toasts to family and possibly Maid of Honor and Best Man. Then have the rest of the wedding party prepare one or two things that they believe to describe either the bride or groom. After the speeches end have the bride and groom sit up front back to back so that they can't see each other, ask them to remove their shoes and give one each to the Bride and the Groom.
Now the wedding Party begins reading off their list such as "who is most likely to karaoke all night - the bride or the groom?" and both the bride and groom will raise the shoe of the person they believe it best describes. Everyone will be endlessly entertained by their responses.
This way everyone gets to put in their two cents and the entire room is entertained all the while. Toasting is kept short and everyone walks away with fabulous new memories of your special night.
Fat Tuesday and all of our friends' Mardi Gras pictures have inspired us to share with you this beautiful New Orleans wedding we did!
Also due to the fact that many brides are hesitant to allow a videographer into their wedding, either because they see it as invasive or they have a horrifying picture in their head of the camcorder videos shot by Uncle Bob that wind up on America's Funniest Home Videos. We want you to see how times have changed and this is just the video to do it!
The videographer shot this as if it was an old movie, and it came out beautifully.
Notes on the wedding:
We integrated some very fun and special New Orleans traditions including: handkerchiefs at each persons seat to wave in the 2nd Line band procession that followed, as well as the incredibly beautiful handmade parasols that the newlyweds carried.
"Nothing could have been more special than planning this beautiful wedding for a couple so near and dear to my heart! Megan is one of my best friends and was the most beautiful bride, I feel blessed and honored to have her in my life and to have been able to be involved in her wedding to such a wonderful guy! Love you MOON! Congratulations Megan and Zach!"

*Watch out for a special inspiration from Megan and Zach's Wedding!
They're goofy, rowdy, and quite often a pain in the rear - but there is no doubt that your groom couldn't do this without them. This post is for the groomsmen!
You've spent many a lunch with your MOB discussing the perfectly unique and sentimental gift for the girls who will be by your side at the altar (our suggestions to come soon!), but it's doubtful that you're hubby to be has given this any thought! We promise he will be so thankful that you took the time to think of his friends and to help him thank the boys for being there for him!
So here are our top suggestions!
Jan Barboglio Flask
With attached roll of paper to include a special note, and available in the cross, star, and crown, this gift is not only thoughtful but useful! The groomsmen will think of y'all every time he pulls it out of his boot at a football game at your alma mater!
If rustic isn't their style, check out the vast array of flask design selections from Smathers&Branson! Their needlepoint goods are always a crowd pleaser!
(See their key fobs and other products as well!)
Personalized Steak Brands
The steak brand is nothing new, but it's something they wouldn't buy for themselves. Available in a variety of teams, fonts, or even personal monograms, this makes a perfect gift at a lower price point.
Personalized Golf Balls
For those guys you always know where to find - have personalized golf balls made! There are so many places online and endless possibilities! Try your monogram, Bride & Groom's names and date of wedding, a cute phrase, or personalize each set to the groomsman!
Beer Brewing Kit
Thank you to a dear friend for telling us about this recently! This is the ultimate idea not only for groomsmen gifts, but also for a grooms shower! Texas Brewing Inc. in Fort Worth offers beer and wine tasting tours and brewing classes as well as kits! Plan for the groom and groomsmen to do a beer tasting and brewing class, then gift them their kits at the end! They can pick the flavor kit for the beer they liked best if they wish too! We're calling this the Tiffany's necklace of groomsmen gifts!
This idea resulted from several recently engaged and married couples who had so many dear friends and family wishing to host showers for them that they ran out of shower ideas and were also having to continually add to their registry as it kept filling up.
A friend threw this shower for a Bride-To-Be and it was a fantastic idea!
Each guest was to bring a date night themed basket for the couple. This could be anything from dinner and a movie to dancing lessons.
The idea is that as newlyweds they may not spend as much on dates and activities to keep the romance alive during that first year of marriage, and this way they have set and planned dates all expenses paid and hassle free.
Top ideas for date themes:
Bottle of Wine
Central Market Gift Certificate
Dinner and a Movie:
Dinner Certificate to one of their favorite restaurants
Movie Ticket Certificate to a local theatre
Spa Certificate for a couples massage
or other spa package
The more creative the better! If they have children include "Babysitter Money", or maybe a pretty neglige and candles for when they get home. Add cute notes letting them know why you chose that date for them to make it even more personal and show how well you know the happy couple!
The setting can be anything, our suggestion is a wine tasting! But personalize it to your bride and let the fun begin!
You won't believe how appreciative they will be for this! And everyone will rave about how creative you are for thinking of it!
You've paid attention to every last detail of your wedding, personalized your special event in every possible way. So why not complete the picture with a custom "Klutch" for all of the girls who will be by your side throughout the night to keep their necessities in?
These "Kreatively Inspired Karryalls" are custom made by our dear friend Meg Hayes, who many of our brides may recognize from meetings with Posh Couture Rentals!
So whether you're the eclectic bride who is looking for something unique to send your bridesmaids down the aisle with or just want something special gift for them "to have and to hold" throughout the night - these beautiful, custom bags are exactly what you're looking for!
Customize them to suit your color scheme and aesthetics!
